Years of Formulation
What started as a search for better skin care became years of hands-on formulation. We created creams, balms, and salves for our children, ourselves, and eventually our friends. We researched oils, butters, botanicals, resins, essential oils, and peptides. We asked questions of dermatologists, physicians, formulators, growers, and suppliers. Then we experimented carefully, refining one formula after another and paying close attention to how each one made dry, sensitive skin look and feel.
Some formulas were set aside. Others became family staples. Friends began asking for what we were making and sharing their experiences with us, so we kept learning.
We still had no plan to start a skin-care company. We were making these products for the people we loved, so we were not formulating backward from a profit margin or choosing ingredients because they were inexpensive. We wanted to create products we would trust enough to use on our own children and our own skin. That remains our standard today.
Knowing the Ingredient Wasn’t Enough
As our research deepened, one question became central to everything we did: Where did it come from?
If we were using tallow, we wanted to know the farm, how the cattle were raised, what they ate, and whether they were grass-fed and grass-finished throughout their lives. If we were using shea or cocoa butter, we wanted to know who made it, where it was produced, and whether it had been bleached, deodorized, diluted, or unnecessarily refined. If we were using a peptide, we wanted it manufactured specifically for cosmetic use, supported by proper documentation, and independently verified for quality and purity.
Too often, the trail ended with a reseller that could tell us the name of an ingredient but not its full story. That was not good enough for our family, and it would never be good enough for Imperial LUXX.
Sometimes finding the right source took weeks. Sometimes it took months. In a few cases, it took years. We followed the supply chain, built relationships directly with farms, cooperatives, distillers, laboratories, and manufacturers, and learned the origin story behind the ingredients at the heart of our products.
Faith Is the Foundation
Imperial LUXX is proudly family-owned and rooted in our Christian faith. Our faith shapes how we treat people, how we conduct business, and how we make every product. We believe in integrity, character, stewardship, honest trade, and keeping our word. We believe a handshake should still mean something. We believe the people who grow, raise, harvest, and handcraft our ingredients deserve to be treated with dignity.
We also believe our customers deserve honesty. That means telling you what is in our products, choosing suppliers we trust, and refusing to quietly substitute an inferior ingredient simply to improve a margin.
Nearly Three Decades on the Road
Our story has also been shaped by nearly 30 years of life and ministry with the Christian rock band Seventh Day Slumber. As the band’s lead singer, Joseph has spent decades traveling and connecting with people around the world. Lori, as the band’s manager and his partner in every sense, has built and sustained that journey alongside him.
Many of our early formulas traveled with us. They became part of the way we cared for our skin and our family during life on the road. Those years taught us that lasting work is built on trust, relationships, perseverance, and doing what you say you will do.
Premium Quality, Made More Attainable
Creating products with exceptional ingredients costs more. We never wanted to lower our standards to reach a price point. Instead, we built direct relationships, removed unnecessary layers from the supply chain, and purchased key ingredients in larger quantities. Those relationships help us pass meaningful savings to our customers while preserving the integrity of the formulas.
Every product still has to pass the same test: Would we confidently use this on ourselves and the people we love most? If the answer is not an unequivocal yes, it does not carry the Imperial LUXX name.
